Ellie Marie Zurcher

Alexa has told her story here of labor, delivery and Ellies’ first visitors (us!!), but I thought I’d share our my view. The morning of Thursday September 20th started early.

5:19am to be exact when I received a text that read “It’s babbbbbbby time! Wahoo!!!!!!!!!” along with the most darling picture of Alexa in a hospital gown all ready for the big day. I was smiling from ear to ear and was seriously so excited for both Lex and Brian and their BIG day!! Of course, I never went back to sleep after that text. I packed and got things ready to go so we could head out later in the day!

**I really felt strongly that Alexa and Brian needed their own time as a new little family before we crowded in on them! We were planning to drive up today for sure, but weren’t going to go to the hospital until Ellie was a few hours old so they could have their own “family” time. It all worked out unbelievably perfect!

6:12am “I’m so so so excited!” (text love Lex)

11:15am “I’m getting so excited and anxious for this little one straight from heaven! Can’t wait for you to meet her! I can’t wait to meet her! You’re going to be a grandma! What a wonderful day!!!” (text from Lex) (insert tears of joy and excitement from me here)

We texted a couple times that morning. She would give me updates how dialated she was. We were planning to leave around noon. About 11:40am I received a text that she was dialated to a 5. I was thinking that she was right on track and the day was going great! One thing I do remember is that when I talked to her around noon, she had her epidural & she commented to me, “Oh do I love that man!” (ha, the anesthesiologist who took her pain away!!!). It was so funny!

The kids came home from school at noon. Spencer brought Erin home, and then went to pick up Grace early. We packed up and then picked up Zac at school on our way into town to pick up Jeremy. To say we were excited is a HUGE understatement!

12:55pm “I am at a 10!!!!! They’re finding the doctor so I can start pushing!!!!!!”

Seriously??? Who goes from a 5 to a 10 in just over an hour??? Especially on your first baby??? I was seriously excited now, I knew she would be here sooooon! (although I really expected that she would come closer to 4 or 5pm!!!)

We were finally on our way about 1pm (but not until we prayed that the car would get out of gear from Park to Drive, it was having some issues and this grandma was about to break down!) All was well and off we went! (three and a half to four hour drive!!)

It was all I could do to keep the car somewhere near the speed limit!!! We received an amazing text about 2:10pm that said Ellie Marie Zurcher 6lbs 8 oz, 19 1/2 inches long 1:54pm. My. heart. skipped. a. beat. Tears filled my eyes. My precious daughter was a mother and I knew that she, Brian, and Ellie were surrounded with the pure, sweet, feeling of heaven as they admired their sweet daughter fresh from heaven. I can’t even begin to explain the overwhelming feeling of love, purity, joy, and the sweet spirit that accompanied me then, and us the rest of the day.

Enough talking. I’ll let the pictures say a thousand words. Our visit to the hospital to meet miss Ellie was priceless and one that I will remember forever. (ps we’d been talking in the car who was first with miss Ellie. Grandma won by a landslide (ok, only cause my vote counted as a 100!!)…so the pic’s of me holding her first you’ll have to see on alexa’s blog!) We walked into the room, and I went right over to hug Alexa. As she looked up at me, she handed me her precious daughter. I will forever and ever remember that as one of the most spiritual moments of my life. I was happy to share the love with each of the kids and “Grandpa”! These million pictures are only from our first visit!!! Enjoy!!

**all of these pictures are when miss Ellie is just 2-3 hours old! Her eyes are huge when they are open, she is so beautiful and we L O V E D taking turns with that sweet baby girl!! We came again for a visit on Friday. And Saturday. And Sunday. I was lucky enough to stay the entire week with Lex, Brian, and Ellie…but that’s for a future blog!**

Love you Zurcher family of three!!!
