All summer long as we planned and prepared for Stake Girls Camp, the only thing I kept telling myself was - “After this you only have a baby shower and a new grandbaby!!” A few other things filled up those in-between days. A few days after Girls Camp, my amazing sister-in-law and I were in charge of the Call Family Reunion up in Mapleton. Yikes. Planning, shopping, and cooking for 65+ people every day kept us busy. We got home from that on Monday night super late, only to pack up Spenc and Jer so they could leave on Wednesday for Havasupai with the Scouts. The rest of the kids and I left on Thursday to head back up north for Grace’s soccer tournament. (is your head spinning yet, cause mine surely was!!) We helped Alexa and Brian move from their cozy apartment into their darling house. It was such a busy weekend!! We arrived home Sunday night and the kids started school on Wednesday. I started the week later teaching preschool with my dear friend Doree four days a week. Sadly, two weeks later my amazing father-in-law passed away. We left immediately up north and stayed up there for 5 days. (one day we hosted the already planned baby shower for Lex, see post HERE.) She has great friends and neighbors and such a cute house!! Talk about amazing creativity at work! The funeral was amazing, only because all of the family got to speak about an amazing man. It was a beautiful day. A week and a half later….miss Ellie decided it was her day to arrive. And what a beautiful day that was.
I’ve been needing to do some blog updates big time – Girls Camp, Soccer tourneys, Family Reunion, and mostly baby Ellie. So stay tuned. They’re coming. I’m trying to fit them in-between being Gramma, teaching darling preschool kids, keeping the house going (did I mention I was up north for 9 days and when I got home the house actually was still standing?? JC and kids did pretty dang good while I was gone!!!).
To end this post, I’ll share one of my most favorite quotes – special thanks to Alexa (www.alexamariezurcher.com) for making it!
This is such a great reminder to me to always thank my Heavenly Father for all that I have. I am so blessed and feel His hand in my life every single day! And to go along with that, my most current favorite scripture:
17 Verily, verily, I say unto you, ye are little children, and ye have not as yet understood how great blessings the Father hath in his own hands and prepared for you;
18 And ye cannot bear all things now; nevertheless, be of good cheer, for I will lead you along. The kingdom is yours and the blessings thereof are yours, and the riches of eternity are yours.
19 And he who receiveth all things with thankfulness shall be made glorious; and the things of this earth shall be added unto him, even an hundred fold, yea, more.
I am so very blessed, beyond measure!! The biggest blessing – my family. I am so thankful for a loving husband who works so hard in our behalf and who plays like no other! I am blessed beyond measure with children who are good, faithful, kind, and loving. I am blessed as our family has grown to include an amazing son in law and now a darling grand-daughter. The blessings of family are eternal. I know that families are forever and I will always be thankful for that. I am so grateful that life does not end at death and that we can be with our loved ones forever.
I am most grateful for a loving Heavenly Father and for the Atonement of his son, Jesus Christ – who without we would not enjoy any of the blessings we enjoy on a daily basis. How thankful I am for their wisdom, council, love, encouragement, and comfort. I am grateful for scripture like the one above that counsels us to be of good cheer! I am truly blessed beyond measure!
ps Spenc turned 18 last month!!? Seriously!! Next year at this time we will be busy planning to send him out on his mission….Where has the time gone?? At the exact same time, I miss the ages they all were, yet love the age and stage we are at now! How is that possible!!??
