The beach was the place to be. Every afternoon we partied it up in the sunshine! Here are a few more beachy and blog worthy pic’s from the 4th of July. Spenc and Jeremy (who broke the rules and hung his life jacket up on the pole!!) jumping off together!
Thursday morning we hiked on over to Fallen Leaf Lake so we could decide if we wanted to spend the afternoon there or Lake Tahoe. Lake Tahoe won hands down. This was a great little hike, and a quaint little lake, but too rocky to hang out at all day. Although while we were there that morning, we found plenty to keep us entertained. The dads found time to take a nap whenever they could. Apparently for Jeremy comfort wasn’t an issue. ;) Steve never slept very long, because some little critter or bird would always come over and wake him up (and I’m not talking kids here! Really, chipmunks, birds, squirrels!) After lunch it was off to Lake Tahoe!! They attempted to roll these guys all the way down the beach into the water in all the tubes. Crafty Lynda brought paints so we had a great time (well some of us!) (ha, just kidding Ryan, he really was happy!!) painting rocks, light sabers, veggie tale characters, tahoe mementos (that WILL be on the Christmas tree), totem poles (that will hopefully be hanging on someones Christmas tree, just sayin), and such. Friday morning, half the group went with Jeremy to hike to some awesome waterfalls. Look at the view of the lake from where they were! After that, we all met in town and shopped around a little. It was fun, but really most were hungry and tired, so we ate lunch and yes, went right to the beach! I didn’t bring my camera that day :( Boo. But we had a ton of fun!! That night we had awesome hot dogs over the campfire, first wrapped in Rhodes bread dough. Mmmm, they were seriously so good! We also enjoyed a great game of spoons, with consequences for those who lost each round. Whoever lost got to make up the consequences for the next person who lost. Pretty sure we had people clucking like chickens around campsites, doing cartwheels, running around with the capri sun box on their head singing “Juice Box Hero”, skipping down the road singing how much we love our family, and other random things. It was such a fun night. Yes, we are so weird! Haha. Saturday morning we all had to pack it up and say good bye. I seriously could have stayed a few more days at least. The weather was perfect, the food was delicious, and the company was priceless. We love you Spencer family!!!!! We drove off and headed up to the Reno Airport to drop off these two cute girls. They were flying out to Gramma Camp, up near Seattle, Wa. for two weeks. Camping to world class travelers, all in one day! It was Gracies first time on an airplane!! She was so excited and did great. Here they are boarding their plane! Have fun girlies!!
It was pretty quiet driving home with only the boys! I’m not sure we’ve ever been on a long drive home with just two kids, except when Lex and Spenc were the only two little ones! Our nine hour drive turned into 10+ when Jeremy forgot one minor detail (like turning right onto highway 395). Ha. But that gave us more adventure and we had fun! We made it home right around midnight on Saturday night. It was a FABULOUS summer trip and we hope to do it again with the Spencer family soon!!! Thanks for making such fun memories with us. Happy Summer 2012!!
